The full form of ANM is Auxiliary Nursing and Midwifery. Higher Secondary passed female candidates can apply for admission on the ANM Nursing Training course. Currently, in West Bengal total 13 ANM Nursing Schools are available as per West Bengal Nursing Council. Total available seats are 960 as per the current notice.
After completing this course, candidates will get a job on Urban Public Health Centre (UPHC) of the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) under National Urban Health Mission (NUHM). This course has high demand among the HS passed female candidates.

Eligibility for ANM Nursing Course
- The minimum education qualification required is the 12th pass apply for ANM Nursing course.
- Arts, Science and Commerce students apply for this course.
- The minimum age for this course is 17th years and the maximum is 27th years.
- Only Female candidates can apply for the ANM Nursing course.
ANM Nursing Course Details
Auxiliary Nursing and Midwifery (ANM) training is a 2 (two) years duration course. Candidates will learn some medical academic information, get training on various hospitals under these two years. After completing the 2 years ANM Nursing course, they will receive a Registration Certificate from West Bengal Nursing Council.
Course Fees for ANM Nursing
There is no any Private Institution, offering ANM Nursing training course in West Bengal. All the Training schools are managed by the Government. So the course fees for ANM Nursing also very low. Candidates have to pay Rs. 12 per month as Tuition Fees + Some amount of Hostel fees.
Job Scope after Training
After completing the ANM Nursing training course under the West Bengal Health Department, candidates will get their job directly. On Successful completion of training, the candidates will recruit as an ANM Staff on her respective Urban Local Bodies (ULB).
The salary of a Govt. ANM Staff Nurse is approx Rs. 15,000 per month in West Bengal.
Admission on ANM Nursing Training Course
The admission in ANM Nursing Training course will be done by District CMOH under West Bengal Health & Family Welfare Department. They publish Admission notification on the official website (wbhealth.gov.in).
Candidates have to download the Application form and have to send it to their respective CMOH office. Generally, the Admission notice publishes in the Month of November / December.

Hello Subhadra, admission on all these ANM Nursing schools will be done through the single entrance exam conducted by WBJEE. For ANM (R) course, candidates have to bear only the Fooding charges, Exam charges and your study materials. The room rent is very less.
